"This one has a kind of Maoist angle 'cause it's called "Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards". The Great Leap Forward wasn't a disco dance that your parents did, it was Mao's attempt to bring China from an agricultural economy to an industrial economy in 18 months in 1965 and 1966. And it really messed up and became something much, much worse called The Cultural Revolution but the idea remains with us anyway. The song is actually about my attempts to reconcile having socialist ideals in an industry that is actually infested by people like Rick Astley, Belinda Carlisle and Van Halen. And that's a bloody struggle, I'll tell you."
